The average hourly data breach cost per Internet user will increase from $2,054 in 2001 to $787,671 in 2021. Phishing remains the most common cyber attack, with 323,972 Internet users successfully attacked in 2021, accounting for half of all Internet users who experienced a data breach.

Nearly one billion emails will be compromised in 2021, with one in five internet users worldwide as the target. Much critical information was harvested and sold to dark web criminals. Cybercriminals continue to change their tactics to become more subtle and sophisticated, as the official 2022 Cybercrime Report predicts that Internet users will lose $8 trillion in 2023, rising to $10.5 trillion by 2025.
